AOC 29-inch IPS Q2963PM (21:9) LED Monitor

Cheapest AOC 29-inch IPS Q2963PM (21:9) LED Monitor

It's a 29" 21:9 cinema concept MNT with AH-IPS Panel, 2560x1080 resolution, 3W stereo speaker with housing for better sound quality and MHL mobile phone connectivity, no more black border at up & button side of screen when you watching a movie. AOC Q2963PM 29" UltraWide IPS LED Monitor Take Your Work and Entertainment Experience to the Next Level AOC's Q2963PM greatly enhances your productivity and experience; work and leisure won't be the same with features like the ultrawide cinematic s...
  • 21:9 - Ultra wide viewing angle
  • Panoramic display
  • PIP/PBP for multitasking
  • MHL compatible for Android Smartphone/Tablet
  • Interconnect multiple displays to create a daisy-chain

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. An exceptional performer, even amongst IPS
At first I was a bit unsure as to what to make about the physical dimensions of the product. The screen is wider than a 30" 16:10 monitor but only as tall as a 23" model. It didn't take long before these doubts evaporated. Whilst you don't get the same vertical real-estate that's useful for desktop use as you would on a 2560 x 1440 model, you do get some useful extra width over 1920 x 1080. Where this monitor really shines is for games and movies. The panoramic view and 21:9 aspect ratio gives you a wider FOV horizontally without affecting vertical FOV on most game titles and makes for a truly engaging and immersive experience. Most movies nowadays are filmed in aspect ratios that will fit the monitor very nicely - and although Blu-rays are limited to 1920 x 1080 they upscale beautifully without any obvious loss of detail or sharpness.

Of course there is more to a monitor than just its size. This monitor is also an exceptional performer, even for an IPS panel (I have used...

2. Some limitations, but what a beautiful picture, extremely versatile monitor (4.5 stars)
Ok, there were a couple complaints about dead pixels - first off, I had none. Perfect right out of the box.

I will add that I still can't believe how thin this monitor is. Under 1" thick, and the front bezel is almost non-existent - like 1/2" on the sides, and almost nothing on top. This is *all* screen. And while it isn't exactly feather-weight, it is remarkably light weight compared to similar sized HDTVs I've lifted or had to move.

For vibrancy, color depth, & size, it gets an easy 5-stars. This monitor does way more than even the box says (for example, daisy-chaining). This is by far the best, most versatile monitor I've ever owned. But it has some limitations and setup issues, which is the only reason I marked it down a bit. Here are some of the limitations:

I wanted the 21:9 AOC basically for 2 reasons: First, for the MHL feature (watching movies & other tasks from phone to monitor). This is simple & works great (make sure your smartphone...

Awesome monitor, awesome tech support. Use a high bandwidth, true Dual-Link Cable if Connecting via DVI.
First, let me say this is a fantastic monitor. Second, I want to commend the tech support at AOC for their superb communication and help with one issue I had (on my end). This monitor is being used entirely for video editing, replacing dual Viewsonic VA912b's, which were connected via DVI cables to an nVidia 9800GT (no HDMI out).

Initially, I connected the AOC with one of the basic DVI cables I had been using for years. When set to 2560x1080, the text was choppy and barely readable and the image unflattering. 1920x1080 was better, but stretched. I emailed AOC tech support and had a reply within an hour, recommending that I connect via DisplayPort/HDMI which, of course, I can't, not having an HDMI out on the card. However, I swapped video cards with my other PC that had HDMI, albeit a slower card, and the AOC worked perfectly, and looked stunning.

A second tech also emailed me within the hour and suggested that I replace my existing DVI cable with a...

1. Great Monitor!!! Still working manufacturing bugs
I recently got this from the Dell website since it wasn't available here at amazon at time. I have to say I am very impressed with the quality of the monitor. The color, calibration, response time, size... pretty much everything. Now, I got my monitor pretty much as soon as they came out and I noticed minor manufacturing defects. Had to have it replaced a couple times until I got a nice working one (knock on wood). So here is a couple of pros and cons:

Pros:
-- Excellent picture quality
-- Great backlight
-- Light and thin
-- USB 3.0 Hub included
-- Many different video input connectors
-- Excellent warranty and customer support

Cons:
-- First two monitors I went through had weird horizontal lines (kind of like inconsistency in the backlighting)
-- Minor manufacturing defects as it most probably was the first batch

Overall this is a great monitor and my cons where mostly based on a couple of faulty units,...

2. Great Monitor - early problems
Great picture - can't beat the size. I had problems out of the box with the menu system not working consistently. If you want to change inputs (ie multiple computers) you need this to work. Contacted dell and was told they won't help because it was purchased from Amazon - no suggestions, no ideas, just out of luck. Good thing it did not work out of the box - apparently they won't honor the warranty when its not purchased directly from dell. Thanks Amazon for the simple return policy.

Could be a Great Monitor if Dell Corrects a Serious Flaw
I bought a Dell U3014 Ultrasharp Monitor based on my experience with a pair of five-year-old Dell 3008WFP monitors and a brand new Dell U2713H monitor. In my opinion the U2713H is the best monitor Dell ever made for professional use. It was so good that I chose the U3014 to replace my old 3008WFP monitors. The specifications are identical with the only difference being the larger size.

Knowing that Dell monitors sold by Amazon do not carry the standard Dell warranty, I bought directly from Dell to get the three-year Dell warranty at close to the Amazon price. I soon found that the U3014 has the same bright and sharp picture as the U2713H but has a serious problem if the user needs to work with darker images such as I do when editing with Photoshop or Premiere Pro. Darker screens suffer from light contamination and bleed over from the LED back lighting array.

I have added a "user" photograph above showing how the U3014 screen will look with dark images. If you...

  • Full HD AH-IPS LED display with 178° wide-view angle in frameless design for edge-to-edge brilliance
  • ASUS SonicMaster Technology, co-developed with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower for premium immersive audio
  • Featuring dual HDMI ports for multi device connections

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Beautifully built IPS panel with great construction and color reproduction
UPDATE 2/8/13: Be sure to download the correct ICC profile (driver) from Asus' website - this file is critical as it defines the proper color space for this monitor. You will need to manually enter device manager to install this driver, otherwise you will use the Windows default. The windows 7 version works fine on windows 8. I occasionally noticed some green pixelating effect in certain .mkv movie files, that disappeared when I loaded the correct ICC profile.

--

My ASUS MX279H arrived snugly packed and covered in plenty of protective tapes. Included were a VGA cable, HDMI to DVI (male) cable, 3.5mm AUX audio cable and proprietary power adapter. This is a design tradeoff - the panel is so slim because the power adapter is external. It is the size of a MacBook power adapter, and is one more thing you need to keep track of if you decide to move this monitor as any old power cable will not work.

Thankfully, the monitor arrived with no dead/stuck pixels...

2. Happy with it for Mac and PC
I'm using a 2012 Mac Mini with an HDMI cable and the text is not as sharp as my 2007 iMac. In checking various forums, it was recommended to try a VGA to Mini DV port adapter. I have it on order (thank you Amazon Prime). Having said that, it looks incredible with a Windows PC DVI to HDMI adapter. I think it's a great monitor for the price so I have to give it 5 stars. I have not had the banding issues another reviewer complained about. If you want a truly exceptional 27" monitor, expect to spend 3x this price. I'm happy with the price/performance. It looks great on my desk. I provide my own hardware for work and am tempted to get another of these for use at work with a Lenovo i5 laptop running Windows 7. I'll update my review once the VGA adapter arrives. I would not hesitate to order this monitor, just make sure you also have the right cables from the start.

Update after securing VGA adapter.... LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. The text is sharp and clear and the...

Not good enough
I had high hopes for this monitor. However, it didn't work out for me.

Pros:
No dead pixel
Beautiful design

Cons:
Light bleeding all around, but especially heavy on the lower left corner.
Touch buttons are hard to see. If I could see these buttons (for example, some Sony TVs has illuminated buttons), it will make adjustment a lot easier.
Monitor also has a yellowish tint compare to my 2nd monitor.

A lot of these problems I encountered are easy to spot if you have a 2nd monitor connect to the same machine.
I believe my monitor is defective. It's going back.

Btw., the good monitor on the left is also an ASUS, model VG236H. I used a software called "Dead pixel tester" to test my monitors.

  • This large 23-Inch edge-to-edge glass widescreen display (1920 x 1080 resolution) brings the best viewing experience of Full High-Definition content.
  • Flexible tilt from 30-80 degrees lets you interact with this monitor from all different angles.

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Nice Monitor, with a few drawbacks
I purchased this monitor to experience the full effect of Windows 8 - using it as a second monitor connected to my laptop (Sony Vaio Z).

One thing I did not see mentioned anywhere - in order for Touch to work, you need to connect the USB3 cable from the monitor to your computer - in addition to one of the included video cables. I am not sure if a USB3 connection is required or if this will work with an older USB2 jack [**UPDATE** others are saying that USB2 works just fine].

This is replacing an older Dell 24-inch. The color and clarity are very good and I am not any worse off with the move down to 23 inches - frankly it looks about the same as the 24 to me.

There are a few drawbacks:
1. Reflection:
The screen is HIGHLY reflective. When it is off, it can double as a (dark) mirror. I have a window behind my desk and have had to angle this monitor a strange way to reduce reflection. When on, the reflection is not as bad, but much, much...

2. beautiful touch monitor! great features!
I purchased this to go with my Windows 8 PC. It's really an amazing monitor and absolutely worthy of purchase. It is an IPS panel which is the reason why it's much more expensive than the typical TN panel that comprises most inexpensive LCD monitors. Because it is IPS, the viewing angles are fantastic. In addition, it has capacitive touch which makes Windows 8 really excellent to use. It can recognize up to 10 points of touch simultaneously, meaning that you can have 2 people using the screen at the same time, perhaps in a game.

The screen is extremely responsive. Soon you'll be pinching to zoom in and out. Twirling your fingers to rotate a picture. Swiping to close programs or change programs. It really is like having a tablet on a nice big screen.

I thought the display was truly beautiful. Colors are rich. Text is sharp. Watching movies was great.

It comes with all the cables need to connect the monitor to a PC: HDMI, VGA, and DVI...

Great desktop upgrade for Windows 8
After upgrading my desktop to Windows 8, I wanted to get in on all the fun new touch features even without buying a new tablet. I was choosing between the Dell S2340T and this monitor but ultimately chose the Acer due to availability and price. I am very satisfied with the look and performance of the monitor.

Pros:
- IPS screen, 1920x1080
- Comes with all the cables you could need (HDMI, DVI, VGA, USB3, power)
- Can stand upright, lay down, or be wall mounted (bracket not included)
- No need to install drivers, it just worked

Cons:
- Some of the new tablets cost around the same price
- Integrated speakers aren't that great

Notes:
1. The stand's hinge is very tight out of the box, but with careful force, it will move into position.
2. The screen is glossy, so glare could be a problem under some conditions.
3. Fingerprints don't show up too much at first, but keep a cleaning cloth handy nonetheless.
4. If...

  • Enter a spectacular world of colors with Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) support.
  • Quick response time of 1ms (GTG) eliminates ghosting and tracers for more fluid video playback

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Much better than I expected it to be.
First let me start off by saying I have never used one of the expensive IPS monitors so my opinions will be based on my experience with other non-IPS monitors. This is a 1 day review...normally I wait a while longer but this product has no reviews so I thought it needed something.

Pros:
-Fairly accurate colors out of the box. Perhaps a little on the faded side, setting monitor to scenery mode makes it slightly more saturated than a calibrated monitor (which looks great in colorful video games.
-Low Price
-Good OSD menu
-Easily accessible connections

Cons:
-Did not come with an HDMI - HDMI cable.
-Documentation could be better.
-Speakers are weak but i've never heard of a monitor with great speakers.

Thinks to note:
-There is a plastic notch on the rim where the monitor meets the base so pay attention when you are attaching the base because the notch must go in first then you can worry about the 2 pegs and the...

2. big and beautiful
I was looking for a larger monitor to replace my Samsung 23" LED model S23A350H. Aside from surfing the web and checking email, I also use the monitor for PC games/gaming. I purchased my monitor directly from J&R, because they offered free shipping and a $10-off coupon for any purchase (but only from their website). I paid 289 bucks. I ordered it on a Sunday, they shipped it Monday, and it was delivered to me on Wednesday. I've ordered from J&R before (direct and through Amazon), and they do a good job...even with returns.

I checked into monitors above 27", but they were very expensive (600 bucks and up, plus their response time is much higher--and that's bad). Some monitors above 27" with low response times and higher resolution were 1200 bucks or more. I don't pay that kind of money for technology, because the prices always plummet in a few years due to even newer technology! After doing some research at various monitor manufacturer websites, it seems that most companies...

So far so good
I just got this setup and so far I am very impressed.

I was a little hesitant about the purchase due to some reviews about poor display settings and not being able to adjust.
For anyone on the fence for this reason, don't be.
I assure you the picture is beautiful and the menu is easy enough to navigate.
I had zero problem getting right to the brightness and contrast, which if you follow the steps I lay out below, is all you need to change using the OSD and buttons on the monitor.
More on that in a minute.

The monitor arrived quickly, and was very well packed.
Opening the box, you can see Asus has included all the necessary cables, including a DVI-HDMI, VGA, audio, and power cable.
I would have liked to see and HDMI-HDMI cable as well, so I could have ran audio and video with one cable, but this is still better than the last 27" LED monitor I bought which came with only a VGA and power cable.

1. After Owning the U2711 for 6 Months, the U3011 Is the Clear Winner
Before the U2711 fans start flinging their darts, I do agree that image-wise the 2711 is a stunning monitor, and for the 6 months I owned it, I was ecstatic with the image quality and I know the new owner will be also. But here's a few thoughts for those trying to decide between U2711, U3011 and the HP ZR30W. Those are the three I researched starting 6 months ago, and now have a happy answer and ending. But first let me mention where I'm coming from because when I searched for reviews, they mostly covered gaming attributes. If you're a gamer, continue your search elsewhere, I can't help you there. For the photo and video editor who also does printing and works with a calibrated display (I use the Spyder3Elite), this review is for you. I use the Adobe Production Premium Suite mainly with this monitor, so my review will be weighted on that experience. Let's quickly cover the big questions:

HP ZR30W
The HP uses S-IPS panels versus the Dell's older H-IPS panels. The newer...

2. Works great with Macbook Pro
Looked at many monitors with reasonable color gamut in the 27-30 inch size which would be compatible with my late 2008 15 inch Macbook Pro (5,1). Main uses are photography, web design and general office productivity (office, writing papers, electronic medical records). I looked at the NEC 3090 series and the NEC and Dell 27 inch monitors as well. I have experience with the Barco and Eizo monitors at work in the radiology department (where the is also the occasional Dell). Here are the things that eventually sold me on this monitor.

1. Comes with displayport. This is huge on a Mac. It was simple to use a mini-displayport to displayport cable (about $15) to get the monitor working with my Macbook Pro. Full resolution off the bat with no sleep/wake issues, no software to install. There are some serious issues using DVI-D with the 2560x1600 screen resolutions on both the portable and desktop macs. Not the fault of the monitors, but the fault of Apple and their implementation of...

Nearly perfect monitor...
An excellent monitor. The colors are perfect, the resolution is the highest you can buy currently at the 30 inch size (I certainly wish someone would break through the 2560x1600 resolution barrier at this size). The monitor is much lighter and produces very little heat in comparison to the Apple 30 inch LCD I've had for about 5 years. The image quality is only a small improvement over the now very old Apple 30 inch. So it isn't a worthwhile upgrade if you already have the Apple monitor. About the only thing I can think of that could be improved (without changing the basic specs of the device) is the startup time, which is about 15 seconds. The monitor is calibrated before shipping and a calibration report is delivered with the monitor. One small complaint is that the monitor's bezel is rather lightweight plastic and the look of the monitor aside from the actual panel isn't that impressive. I haven't tried the built in scaler so far, so I can't comment on that, but testing labs...

Deals for ASUS VE278H 27inch Screen LED-lit 2ms Monitor

Going beyond the essentials, the 27” VE278H Full HD LED monitor delivers ultra-smooth visual playback and features easy-to-use controls to make what you do look amazing. What’s more, this monitor comes with the two built-in HDMI ports to connect multiple PCs, game consoles, and other devices as well as built-in speakers for clutter-free sound.
  • 50,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio
  • 2ms Response Time
  • Full HD with dual HDMI ports

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Nice monitor but has a dead pixel
Well I've just had the monitor for a few days but it seems to be great in all respects, except for the fact that it has a dead pixel pretty close to the center of the screen. I'm going to deduct a star for that though presumably it's not a common problem. Most likely I'll exchange the monitor for another one of the same kind.

Besides all the nice features that I would expect from a 27 inch monitor these days, I checked the power usage and its impressively low. Just 11 W which compares very well with 18 W that a similar HP monitor was using at the same brightness level, and 29 W that my old monitor from a few years ago was using.

-- updated November 22nd 2012 --

I exchanged the monitor for an identical one and it's perfect (no dead pixels). I must say that the exchange process was *extremely* easy, far easier than any physical store.

2. Ok Monitor. ASUS warranty not so great.
The monitor is large, and looks really beautiful. The screen is great, stand seemed sturdy enough, and I could adjust the viewing angle better than other monitors I've had. The reason that I gave this item 2 stars is I noticed a dead pixel towards the bottom of the monitor right away. A day or so later I noticed another smaller one. I contacted ASUS customer service and was told that 5 or less dark dots is acceptable for a new LCD monitor. I don't know who decided that it was acceptable to ship monitors with dead pixels, but I wasn't happy about it. I went ahead and returned it through Amazon, which it turned out to be a lot easier than dealing with ASUS in the first place. With Amazon I was able to ask for a refund within minutes of requesting it online (And UPS was there to pick it up the next day). Sure glad I didn't go through one of the brick and mortar stores to get this, that would have been a real pain.

Amazing Product at a Value Price
I compared all of the 27" monitors in a couple of stores and found that the ASUS was really the winner hands down. I ordered on a Wed from Amazon, expecting 2 day delivery but it was delivered next day! Great service guys as always.

The unit was perfect in every way, no one dead pixel and plastic wrap covering every exposed part of the bezel. Yes the Theater mode is scary bright so try one of the other presets or just adjust it yourself. You get two HDMI inputs, plus VGA. I like the Eco power option as well to make it even more friendly. 2ms response time is really great at this price. No its not an IPS panel but it also doesn't cost $100 more.

Overall, no issues whatsoever. Maximum PC gave it a 9 rating so its not just a personal opinion. Three year warranty with cross-ship to cover you so no need to buy any extended warranty. Honestly, for this price, its a real deal.

1. Great Excellent affordable HP monitor! That Rocks!
Most people will start the battle of "this is not a 2540x1440 display and only 1080 for a 27" is not good enough." First I will say I have now owned both and that's nonsense. Some people may like the added real estate of a higher resolution screen sure but also at the cost of everything being so small it's hard to read. No I'm not old but a young adult with good eyesight. I like the 25040x1440 displays for there clarity, but not the expense they carry. This is where the HP 27xi comes in.

This monitor is clearly an apple style copy. The monitor is stylish thin and I like that the port hookups on the back as they are not facing down as most monitors. So this makes hookup extremely easy. The monitor also tilts up and down, but can not be adjusted height wise.

the colors are vibrant and sharp and really pop, with plenty of contrast and brightness. It does have a gloss screen which is different from the smaller hp xi screens, which I like. The gloss...

2. Big Difference
I ordered this monitor Wed 20 March with free shipping and received it Fri 22 March. That was the first surprise. The shipped box was plain, with no marking, which was good for peering eyes, as the box itself is very attractive and descriptive. The packing was well done and I was surprised as to how light this monitor was. I have, by past purchases, all HP monitors, including a 22", 24" and 25". I just love their brightscreen technology, as it really adds depht to the screen with more vivid colors. I expected no less from this one, plus better picture quality from the previous three that I also am still using. Well, HP did it again! Removing the monitor from its enclosure, I saw a truly work of art. Beautifully designed, expensive look to it, the almost borderless screen is a big difference from the past designs. The brushed aluminum bottom panel really stands out and puts it in a class of its own. The capacitive touch OSD controls are invisible untill you swipe your finger across,...

Freakin amazing....
If you like the look of a Mac monitor, then you will love this.

PRO's:
1) Glossy Screen!
- The color and picture looks so awesome. I know some people hate them, so if you don't like them, you won't like this. I don't really notice it, and I sit next to a window. A good example is to go check out the iMac screens. If it will be about the same glare. (Except those are usually right under bright lights, so its usually better at your house)

2)IPS Panel.
- Color is astounding! No backlight bleeding whatsoever.

3) Viewing Angles!
- "I see everything" ....there are no non-viewable angles.

4) great frame!
- Its a silver frame, and its almost seamless. It does not rise up and down, which is a bummer, but it does tilt. Lightweight.

5) Soft-White Touch Menu/Power Buttons.
- For those picky people, you can actually turn off the power button led. Me, I prefer blazing light raves going on in my office, so I prefer...

1. Buy it now before the sellers regain consciousness.
I have always been a user of the typical TN panel ranging from all types of sizes. My previous display was an Asus model which had a very fast refresh rate of 2ms alongside unnoticeable input lag. I did find myself trying to calibrate the monitor to look at least nearly as good as my Samsung HDTV, but that was impossible. Colors either became over saturated or unnatural in tone. Also there was a sort of slight distortion to the image caused by the coating on the panel. I then began to just suck it up and realize this monitor is simply not engineered for color accuracy and clarity, but rather for hardcore gamers who need the insane response times. Later on, I upgraded to the Dell S2740L. This is a 1080p IPS monitor that immediately struck me with its level of clarity and color accuracy that was before me thanks to IPS technology. Unfortunately, at 27" along with the typical viewing distance of a PC monitor, the image really didn't have that crisp and sharp look that my Asus gave me. It...

2. Glad I found you
Been looking for my perfect monitor for last two years; changed seven monitors during this period and looks like this long marathon has finally ended.

It looks nicer than a few Dell IPS screens i had and comes with very light, not as agressive anti-glare. [dells were pricier and slower]

At 100Hz input lag seems on par with my previous gaming monitors such as Asus VG236H 120Hz and Benq XL2411T 144Hz [though Benq 2411t at 144hz feels slightly faster, however worth noting that image quality is embarrassingly bad in comparison to this screen]

So Qnix 2710 gives you far superior image quality and near identical response as fastest gaming monitors available on the market and double screen space over 1080p at similar price! I know - sounds like a steal.

Now one negative that has to be mentioned is the stand - you'll simply have to get new one! [something like Ergotron Neo-Flex should do the job i guess - thats the one i've ordered anyway, but...

Why this monitor is cheap and what to expect?
As of late, Korean IPS monitors became popular among PC enthusiasts and gamers in America and Europe as a cheaper alternative to buying expensive IPS monitors locally from the known brands such as Dell and HP. Well, if these Korean monitors have the same Samsung and LG panels inside them just like in the Dell and HP ones, how can they be offered this cheap? I guess it's safe to assume that this monitor and the other cheap Korean IPS monitors use panels bought from Samsung and LG after failing a minimum quality check in the original factories. Which means, the chances of receiving a "perfect" monitor if you buy this one are very low. It was not even made perfect in the first place. But should that stop you from buying it? I'd say NO! I bought it and I'm absolutely amazed by it. I'm happy my monitor has no dead pixels and I accept the fact that it has some backlight bleeding on the top and bottom. The latter is obviously where it originally failed to meet a standard so the panel can...

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great monitor - but trouble with Windows 8 edge gestures
As a touchscreen monitor this is a great product: great image quality and great value. However, the bezel isn't flush with the screen so the Windows 8 gestures that require you to move in from the side are difficult to accomplish. As you sweep from the bezel, your finger doesn't enter at the exact edge of the screen, so Windows 8 often doesn't recognize the gestures. It's possible to learn to get them to work much of the time: start the gesture by touching the screen right at its edge with your fingernail "pointing in," but I still have trouble with the top and bottom gestures.

2. good for the price; some unpublished details
Handles only two finger touch screen gestures (spec in the manual), which could well be sufficient. The similar optical sensor Compaq specs 3-touch, at similar prices though not as much discounted. Apparently iPads use more fingers; large screens with that very expensive. Screen is responsive, unlike some optical ones in palm sizes. The optical touch sensor allows a very rugged screen surface.

The touch screen was recognized by Windows without installing Viewsonic drivers, apparently handled by Logitech mouse support software. Seems to be a standard input device now. The touch feature appears as a pointing device or mouse in Windows.

For the price seems well built and functional; more function costs a lot more.

Can be connected with an HDMI cable through a simple plug adapter, but the HDTV resolution 1920 x 1080 will show letterboxed indented 7/8" each side. [can be fixed in settings; see comments] This does not occur with a DVI video card. Older...

Exceeds expectations
I wanted a touch screen for windows 8 but did not want to spend a fortune. This monitor was not only attractively priced, the quality exceeds expectations. The clarity and sharpness of this monitor is stunning. Set up could not be easier ... plug it in and windows 8 took over and it works perfectly. I love it.

2. It took me a long time to find a monitor that I really like, this is it
To me this monitor is the perfect combination quality build, brilliant picture, size, and price. I purchased this monitor soem time back for the office. I like it so much that I bought another one for my home. You can get a monitor with a better picture quality, but not at this price range.

ASUS VG248QE 24-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor

Cheap ASUS VG248QE 24-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor

Ultra smooth action with 144Hz rapid refresh rate and 1ms (GTG) response time Clear Out the Chaos Featuring a 144Hz refresh rate, and 1ms response time, the 24-inch VG248QE LED Full HD monitor delivers the best performance for fluid gaming and movie playback. Now with GamePlus, keep track of game times with the built-in timer function overlay and also enable a crosshair onscreen. • ASUS VG248QE fast gaming monitor shortens the time it takes for rendered frames to display on the screen. Lower monitor latency gives a gamer the opportunity to improve their in-game response time.
  • The 144Hz rapid refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver ultra-smooth motion scenes in 2D intense actions*.
  • The response time is also reduced to 1ms to eliminate tracers by controlling voltage levels when driving liquid crystals thus ensuring fluid and clear video playback.

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Perfect for Games
I bought this monitor off Newegg, I'm just going to past my review here from there. [...]

Pros: This monitor is a godsend for people who hate screen tearing, but also hate vsync. Being able to play up to 144fps with neither one is utterly fantastic. The 1ms response time and (roughly) 7ms latency (basing that number off a review of the older brother to this monitor, the VG278HE) means you are getting one of the fastest and most responsive monitors on the market.

If you search around on a few forums you can find talk of a "hack" to the nvidia lightboost that this monitor supports. Normally lightboost is for 3D, but when playing in 2D you can "hack" it to enable the strobing backlight, which ends up eliminating almost every bit of motion blur and other such flaws of your typical LCD. I haven't tried it myself as I do not use an nvidia card, but people who have used it all rave about it being "like a CRT!" I can tell you that this monitor is more than worthy of...

2. Lightboost has changed my gaming experience.
First and foremost let me just start by saying I am not going to judge this monitor on its subpar color reproduction and lack of color depth since it is only a TN panel and it is only to be expected if compared to a panel more suited to produce accurate colors, such as an IPS panel. So, let's all get realistic here and accept the fact that with LCDs you have to either sacrifice image quality for smooth motion or vice versa.

Second if you're a believer that anything over 30FPS isn't going to make a difference because somewhere along the road you heard that humans can only see up to 30fps. While there is some truth in there, it has highly been skewed. The reality is that the human mind only needs 12-24 frames displayed per second to be tricked into thinking that it is seeing motion, so think of this more as a minimum requirement, not a maximum. The eye is constantly taking in new visual information far quicker than 30 fps. Remember we are humans not cameras, so we are not...

The best gaming LCD I've seen!
Purchased this from B&HPhotoVideo store at $265 shipped, installed a few days ago and 144Hz works flawlessly with my 670 SLI! haven't tested most demanding games, but now surely I can finally turn off Vsync (even adaptive) completely in some games to eliminate any kind of lag (adaptive vsync) or tearing (e.g. vsync off on 60hz monitor).

I love the stand, it's very stable and allows for all direction adjustments, similar to my former most favorite Dell Ultrasharp kind. Speaking of which, I was a bit disappointing with color resemblance on this LCD, but quickly learned (google) there is a better custom ICC profile designed specifically for either AMD or Nvidia cards and this monitor (thanks to PCmonitors.info), once loaded it took only minor adjustments (Standard display mode, brightness 25, contrast 75, Red 100, Green 90, Blue 89) and voila! it displays beautiful colors just like my old Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP once did :)

so happy with this screen! The best...

1. Amazing Visual Fidelity
I've been shopping around for a new monitor for quite some time. I always do my research before making a purchase, and it was no different with this monitor.

Having been a past ASUS component owner who is impressed with the quality and innovation in their products, I ended up searching around for quite a while only to come back to them.

I started out with quite a list of features I was looking for in a monitor, and I wasn't sure I could find any monitor that could satisfy the list of essential features. But then I found the VE278Q.

The monitor has everything I wanted in a top of the line monitor, and it delivers in every way exceptionally well. I'll do a pros and cons list first, then round this out with more info:

PROS:
+Excellent color quality - very rich and accurate color when calibrated.
+Super fast - no ghosting.
+Even lighting - no backlight bleeding.
+Wide range of input options, and audio options...

2. Great except for DisplayPort
PROS:
* Looks fantastic on my desk. Big black glossy frame with a tame ASUS logo, and the lighted power button is stashed away where it's not obnoxious.
* Very crisp and bright.
* Very low power use due to LED backlight.
* The refresh time is excellent - no ghosting.
* sRGB mode looks great.
* PIP is excellent. PIP is essential for a system builder / troubleshooter - put your BIOS on the one PC in the PIP display, and research your settings on the other PC. You just can't understand how useful that is until you've tried it.
* Matte finish on the display panel is excellent, and you can use it in the daytime if you have a window next to your desk.
* Many connections! It has HDMI, DVI and VGA ports that work great, and a headphone jack.
* Actual buttons protrude from the bottom lined up with tiny white icons on the front make the UI easy to use.

CONS:
* This is the big one but if you're not using DisplayPort, ignore it and...

Best Choice For Me
This is the third monitor I have used with my new computer, which was purchased in late November, 2012. I confess, that at best, I'm a simple man and not a techie, so I wanted a good monitor for my simple means. I use Photoshop, read and create a lot of documents, play some games, and watch YouTube, as well as the occasional DVD on this computer. For these uses, this monitor ranks far above what I really need, but at least by having this now, I have some room to grow with as my needs change. Granted, I don't know enough to be as nit picky as some people are, but I can attest to this, based on the other two monitors I tested, this has so far proved to be a solid, superior monitor.

PROS:
It has a 2ms response time. This pretty much eliminates blur on fast action videos and games. BUT, you need to have a fast graphics card as well for fast response time.

The screen is matte / non-glare. This was crucial for my needs.

My eyesight isn't all that...

  • Rapid 6ms response time reduces deviations in transition time to deliver high-quality moving images bringing immersive graphics to your movies and games.
  • The G276HL adopts 178°(H) / 178°(V) ultra wide viewing angle VA panel that eliminates color shift on your screen no matter where and how you look at it.

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great Budget 27" LED LCD Monitor for Work
Got the go ahead to purchase a new monitor for work, settled on this model by Acer. Couldn't be happier. The Acer replaces an old Samsung 24" monitor. The difference is alarming in terms of brightness and contrast. Though, comparing an LED LCD to standard LCD isn't "apples to apples", you will notice the difference, in a good way. I keep the settings at stock and they have been great for the last week. To be honest, despite the 3" gain in screen real estate over the Samsung, the monitor doesn't appear that much larger, probably due to how noticeably thin the monitor is; the Samsung is a bit hefty. You could pick up a cheaper monitor at Costco, but if it's not your dime, this would be an excellent choice for work. It's also been very helpful with creating solidmodels with solidworks.

2. Works great!
Pros:
Price can't be beat.
It is huge. I can read news articles reclining in my chair. Games are really immersive, you will feel like you are in them.
It does not ghost. Games look great.
The picture is beautiful and crisp. Good view angles. No dead pixels.

Cons:
As stated in other reviews, it does not have HDMI.

Other:
Others have stated that 1920 x 1080 on a monitor this big is not a high enough resolution. Sure, I would like more resolution, but I didnt want to pay more than twice as much. If you are going to complain about the resolution, pony up the extra three hundred bucks and get a 27" with higher resolution. Or, buy two of these.

Great monitors
Purchased two of these for a home office set-up. Vivid picture, resolution that meets my needs, and plug and play capability. Also, the warranty is much better than competitor brands. Highly recommended.

Update 12/5/13

Just watched the Matrix Trilogy in 1080p on this monitor - amazing how it has been 14 years since the first Matrix movie and 10 years since the sequels! This time, the sound was via Klipsch x10 earphones, since my daughter destroyed one side of my Soundsticks!! Throughly enjoyable - the combination of a compelling story, razor sharp visuals and perfect sound reproduction.

Update 1/1/13

I've been watching Band of Brothers on this monitor in 720p format - there is nothing like viewing a first class production like this, in blu ray quality on this beautiful screeen. And the Soundsticks really crush those bullet and airplane sounds! A great way to relax on a quiet New Year's morning after a night of too much food and way too much wine!

2. The most perfect display.
I have been using this display a little over a month now. Before committing to purchase, I had researched dozens and dozens of monitors before finally dropping the cash for this guy. It needed to meet a few requirements:

1080p or higher resolution
VESA mounting
IPS Display

Do you know how hard that is to find? It seems like IPS displays lack VESA mounting. I have no idea why. I would have settled for the 24 inch version of this monitor, but again, it lacks VESA mount (which is weird). My next plan was then to order a Korean 2560 x 1440 IPS monitor off Ebay (Like Catleap) but after much deliberation I decided I didn't want to play Russian roulette and risk a getting a bad display with no warranty or dead pixels and then have to spend more money to ship it back, or even worse, be out of a warranty (which is not unheard of for those displays).

So after comparing many other displays, I decided to go with this one as it was the only one that met...

Awesome clarity and color, Dell quality and looks fantastic with edge to edge glass!
I purchased this after a co-worker purchased the Dell Ultrasharp series monitor for graphics work. This monitor is flawless and beautiful in every way. No dead pixels. No fuzziness or aberrations at the corners or edges. AMAZING color and clarity.

DIMENSIONS: Important note about size - the Amazon description gives the size of the monitor in the box, not the actual measurements.
- Actual screen dimensions without the frame is 23 1/2" wide X 13 1/4" high.
- Screen dimensions including the 7/8" frame is 25 1/4" wide X 15" high.
- Height including the base stand is between 18" and 18 1/2" depending on how much it is tilted.
(These are physical measurements, not to be confused with stated "screen size" which is measured diagonally, which of course is 27" in this case)

RESOLUTION: AMAZING! I have it set at the maximum 1920 X 1080 and I LOVE IT! I can fit so much on the screen its amazing. Photos and graphics are vivid and clear, text is...

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. 100% sRGB, AH-IPS - Great Monitor!
Note: my review was for the ViewSonic VX2270SMH-LED 22" -
I see Amazon has grouped 3 different sizes together - including ViewSonic VX2370SMH-LED 23", and ViewSonic VX2770SMH-LED 27" -
although there are many common traits - be sure to check the screen size for any review.

I bought this after doing a lot of research, as I do a lot of photography and post processing.

sRGB preset (factory calibrated)
100% sRGB gamut
AH-IPS
frameless design
slim

This is a very important monitor (along with the slightly larger sibling VX2370Smh-LED) for photographers or anyone who does serious graphics/color work - as it has a factory calibrated preset for the sRGB colorspace @ 100% sRGB gamut - this is the industry standard color space for photos and display monitors.

To me this is HUGE.

The panels is also a AH-IPS - this is currently the latest technology used on the very high pixel density smartphone screens,
it...

2. Wonderful Monitor
It used to be easy... there were bad, fast acting monitors and really expensive, high color accuracy monitors. Today there are a lot of ones in the middle...low cost IPS (like this one)...several other technologies that are similar and some better TN ones.

I don't really play games, so high speed was not a concern...I do a lot of image adjustment, so color accuracy was. Did not want to spend a lot of money (being cheap)...wanted to get something worth more than it costs. (really cheap).

First issue was to decide how big and what resolution. I have both 1080 and 1440 24inch monitors. What I find with the high resolution one is that, in the native format, text is really small...tiny actually. So you increase the font size.. then stuff on internet does not display right.. so back and forth you go. With the 1080...it is ok..but prices have changed.. and now 27 inch is a reasonable price.. but only in 1080. Can one see jagged letters.. ah, no. Can you see the...

Great after some adjustments
I looked at about 10 other IPS monitors in this price range and finally decided on this one. I needed a monitor that I could calibrate for web design and photo-editing purposes. Here are some pros and cons:

Pros:
Aesthetically pleasing.
Stand is stable.
Wide viewing angles.
No backlight bleeds.
Able to adjust colors.
No glare or distracting anti-glare coating that other people reported on other brands.
Built-in speakers (they're like laptop speakers, but this isn't important to me).
No eye strain so far.

Cons:
Can't adjust monitor height, so mine sits on books (but I knew this going in).
It can't swivel but it does tilt (again, I knew this going in).
No DVI cable. It does come with an HDMI cable.

A few notes:

This only happens with HDMI and not DVI. My 1yo PC has ATI Radeon HD4350 with latest drivers. The image did not fill the screen at 1920x1080, and the text was very fuzzy. I had to...

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Outstanding value, amazing monitor
This is an amazing monitor. The display is crisp and high contrast, and the entire unit is surprisingly light. It worked instantly right out of the box and even mounted to a monitor mounting arm (made by Ergotron) that says it's only for monitors up to 24". But this Viewsonic 27" LED monitor was so light that it mounted perfectly on the arm. The URL for the arm I'm using with this monitor is: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00358RIRC/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00

Overall, this monitor is highly recommended. Very good value. This is what I'm using now to write daily news reports, and it's super easy on my eyes. I'm actually buying a second one to use side by side. The lower energy consumption is also an important bonus for all of us who strive to live a greener, more sustainable lifestyle.

2. Magnificent
Rarely have I received so much value for so little money. I'm using an HDMI cable connect and get Images that are bright and crystal clear, fonts that are smooth and sharp, and even though the screen is 27", I'm able to do my work without multiple eye stops.

Ignore the negative reviews unless you are really REALLY picky. If you are comparing this to a higher res. monitor then YES this one 'sucks'. It is absolutely great for my needs and I will probably get another someday. The stand just clips on. Very cheap stand but who cares if you are careful with it. Unpack, plug in and go. I highly recommend.

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Excellent Multipurpose Gaming/Media/Content Creation Monitor!
I think that the PB278Q is the best value WQHD monitor that you'll find that's currently available as of 10/8/12. I got mine from another Online Retailer because they offered a pre-order bonus, but the price was the same overall. Most manufactures are now putting out WQHD monitors, but prices are still very high. As the market becomes more saturated with different manufactures making WQHD Monitors you'll see prices go down, but don't expect this for at least 2 years. The PB278Q uses a PLS based panel which when compared to other IPS based panels it has higher contrast, improved viewing angles, a faster response time, exhibits less reflectiveness, produces a clearer and crisper image, is 10% brighter than competing technologies; all while maintaing lower power consumption levels.

Originally there were to be two variants of this monitor. One for Content Professionals (the PA - ProArt Series) that would come factory calibrated and have some additional "Quick Fit" settings. The...

2. Excellent Display for the money
Pro:

Display: Stunning graphics, excellent color reproduction out of the box, no defective pixel, fast response time for gaming compared to similar monitors in this price range. As always, if you have a professional tool to calibrate the display, it will be even better. However, this display has excellent color reproduction/accuracy out of the box that you don't really have to have a calibrator to enjoy it. For those who don't have a calibrator, I recommend you to adjust the brightness down a little bit since it came with 100% brightness out of the box. The antiglare coating on this display is very light (hence they call this monitor semi glossy) and thus when compared to the heavy coated anti glare monitor like the old Dell U2711/3011 series, it looks much better. Also when compared to the full glossy panel such as Apple Thunderbolt, this monitor has no glares at all, which is extremely good for people who hate glares, especially when you are a professional graphics...

Great Color (With some setting changes)
I love the look of this monitor. With my GTX 680 SLI set up it really looks fantastic. I've tried movies/games/office work and everything looks really good. It is missing USB ports, but I knew that going in. My keyboard has ports on it so it's not much of an issue. I used these settings to get the colors to look closest to perfect as you can really get:

Brightness - 37
Contrast - 80
Splendid mode - User

Color Gain:
R - 47
G - 47
B - 41

Color Offset:
R - 50
G - 49
B - 57

Trace Mode - 40

Hope this helps!

This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great monitor for those looking for something better
When you do a search for a 24" monitor, and you find dozens available in the $150-$200 price range, why in the world would anyone consider this monitor when it costs about twice as much? If you're just looking for a monitor that delivers basic performance, you wouldn't. But if you're looking for a monitor that will deliver a great picture, provide lots of desktop space for your programs, and backed with a great warranty, then you should definitely consider this monitor!

There are plenty of bullet point reasons to consider when comparing monitors:

- Most monitors made today are 1920x1080. This one is 1920x1200. Those extra 120 pixels can make a difference depending on what you are working on. Imagine the difference between viewing a PDF file a full page at a time instead of having to scroll. Imagine being able to see more of that photo of your kids that you're working on. More vertical height means that you can see more E-Mails at once, and less scrolling when...

2. Best IPS monitor in this price range
First off, please ignore all the comments about not for photography or it lacks the full color spectrum and all the complaints about the anti-glare coating. I will say right off the bat that yes you can see the coating but really only if your screen is showing pure white. It isn't as bad as most people say though. I like to call it the "Twilight Effect(tm)", it is a small rainbow shimmer that appears when your monitor is showing bright colors. It's not a strong shimmer and really only shows if you are up really close and are shifting viewing angles. However this coating does do a wonderful job at preventing any sort of reflections or shine even in super bright light which for me is a way better trade off because if you get glare it is going to be way more obvious and disruptive then a little "Twilight Effect(tm)" on your screen. If you're ever in a room with windows, in an office with bright lights, or even if you're ever mobile then glare will be far more of an issue than this...

Nice monitor in $350 price range.
Beautiful image set in a good, unobtrusive matte bezel. I replaced a deceased TN panel with this, it's wonderful no longer having viewing angle or a photo's location on-screen affecting brightness and contrast when I process things. The stand seems sturdy and has nice tilt, rotation and height adjustments.

Out-of-the-box default settings had the panel WAY too bright and it seemed to have a bit of a cold cast; if like me you don't have calibration equipment TFT Central makes available a color profile you can try. That plus the brightness brought down to 35 worked well enough for me and images are beautiful, without their ICC I'm not sure I could've tuned it well "by eye" (it's amazing how quickly our eyes adjust to compensate for color casts).

I'm glad they kept the 16:10 Aspect ratio instead of 16:9, 1920x1200 has lots of real estate, and the only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is that Dell is a pain to deal with if you haven't purchased directly from...
