This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Could be a great deal, or couldn't be... roll the dice
A few words on the backstory behind high resolution, lower priced monitors... The panels in these displays are made my LG, a very reputable manufacturer. But making large S-IPS panels like this is not easy; the process is fraught with manufacturing challenges that causes a fairly high percentage of them to have some performance defects (dead or stuck pixels, color bleeding, spotting, etc.). Companies that buy large numbers of panels from LG (e.g., Dell, Apple,...) inspect production runs. They do this by selecting a random sample from the batch and testing them. Big companies have very high standards and therefore reject a lot of batches of panels. When they do select a batch remember that there could be a few rotten apples in the "A+" batches since they don't test every panel (which explains why some poor folks get defective Apple Thunderbolt monitors); but in general they choose and deliver the best. And guess what... you pay for that!
LG doesn't throw rejected batches...
2. Works with mac mini 2012 w mini display to dvid connector
I purchased the mac mini '12 and this display and am very happy with it thus far. The monitor has the same clarity as the imac and I am nothing short of impressed when it comes to bang for buck. Unfortunately, the stand sucks and the buttons are flimsy.

The first brick in the price fixing wall?
Thank goodness for this dude and Yamakasi.
Apple, Samsung, Sharp, HP, anyone who sells a 2560x1440 LCD monitor have been setting the price at a bottom of $899 and up - these monitors haven't significantly changed in years.
I own a Thunderbolt display - paid $948 from Amazon about a year ago. I love it, it's amazing. But the extra ports are not worth twice the price (easy for me to say when I'd only be adding this as a second external display).
For the uninitiated, you could play 4 full resolution 720p videos on this monitor without shrinking them, overlapping the pictures, or any other nonsense. This is literally no comparison to a Full HD (1080p) monitor, and this will also make your HDTV (especially if large) look... terrible by comparison.
Buy two, love them - close your low-res computer's lid and never look at it again. This thing kicks ass on price.
FYI if you own a MacBook Pro with a Thunderbolt out for video - the...
