This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Pretty display! Poor stand design. Good monitor for the layman.
Note: This review has been updated, please check out the updated section below after reading. I've added a star to the rating since updating.
This monitor was to replace my old 19 inch full frame BenQ which died on me last week. I had been using it as a secondary monitor to my 22inch gateway wide. Figured I'd upgrade the 22 and use it as the secondary from now on since it has a stuck pixel that I can't get rid of.
This new monitor shines standing next to that older gateway. The color is vibrant and blacks are nice and deep, and the display is nice and crisp. I set this monitor up and out of the box it looked great. Win 7 recognized it immediately as my main display and configured itself to use both monitors. Know this however, this monitor does not come with DVI input, only VGA and HDMI so if you are planning to purchase you need an adapter to convert HDMI to DVI or a Graphics card with HDMI out. This wasn't a problem for me since I have HDMI out on my graphics...
2. Serious, Accurate Review of the Samsung S27A550H
Ok, so I read a bunch of reviews on Amazon which made my monitor-buying experience very difficult. I am glad that, in the end, I did not listen to the negative reviews on this website and went with my gut. Samsung has always offered me quality products for fair, reasonable prices. My previous monitor was a 22" Samsung LCD monitor, and so it was time to upgrade. The following review is offered to clarify a lot of the issues that people have had with this monitor, and dispel any negative feedback you may have read.
Let me start by ranting about idiots who give a product one star because they received sub-standard customer service, or because their box was slightly dented upon arrival. You are rating the product, its functionality, and its quality--you are not rating something that has no bearing on the product. Yes, make note of any customer service issues, or packaging deficiencies in your review, but don't give a product one star because of it! You are doing a great...

Great for video & games, ok for text
I have had this monitor hooked up to my Mac laptop and Windows7 machines for a few days now and wanted to share a few thoughts.
Overall this is a good inexpensive monitor. Large screen, VERY bright, etc. 1920x1080 (1080p) video and down looks great, as do games. Text however (like for development or writing) looks terrible at 1080p (no clean edges to the text, fuzzy). However, if you change the screen resolution to 1776x1000 the text is fine. Go figure.
There are a good number of adjustments, but not exactly intuitive. The screen is super bright... too bright. It is almost making my eyes water looking at black text on a white background if I don't turn the brightness way down.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase. Large screen, for a reasonable price. If you are planning on using this for development however, just be aware you aren't going to get the full 1920x1080 pixels.
