This Monitors give to us some advantages, like this :
1. NOISY!
Everything mentioned by others about the quality of the screen is accurate. This monitor is visually fantastic.

BUT if you do any one of the following...

1) turn the Brightness down past 92%
2) put monitor in Eco-Mode
3) enable Dynamic Contrast

then you will hear a static buzzing sound, kind of like having tinnitus - that constant ringing in your ear.

This is not a problem if you keep the monitor on full brightness (92-100%), but my bet is you don't currently have your display on 100% brightness. Turn it up to 100% and then imagine it as 27". And then imagine it's late at night or early in the morning, or you've been working on the computer for a few hours. Eye strain. But you can always turn the brightness down and then hear the ringing in your ears. It's an unfortunate combo. Unfortunate enough to knock it down 2 stars from the 5-star visuals.

I believe this explains the affordability of this monitor.

2. Excellent value in a 27" monitor
This is a great monitor without spending a small fortune. After some tinkering with the brightness and contrast, very good image. Only downside is there is no sound bar available. Even contacted the company. There is also no height adjustment which is only a minor annoyance. Again, Viewsonic makes a great product for the price range. Replaced dual monitors which I could do away with now that I'm on Windows 7. Using this at work and spend most of my day on the computer. Very satisfied and would recommend.

Physical size vs PPI
There are two types of 27" monitor on the market.
- General purpose: 1920 x 1080
- Professional: 2560 x 1440

1920x1080 used to be the standard resolution for 22" monitor. By stretching 22" to 27" without increase resolution, you get lower PPI (pixel per inch) which means lesser image quality and text. It's perfectly fine for general purpose like watching video and surfing web. But these are not for photographers, engineers and designers or any profession who spend long hours in front of a monitor.

Price wise, it's a pretty good deal. FYI, you can get a 22" 1920x1080 monitor for about $140. 27" pro monitor starts at $800, for good reasons. They have almost 180 degree viewing angle in both landscape and portrait orientation, gamut correction (accurate color representation) and anti-reflective screen aka matte screen.
