Philips Brilliance 298P4QJEB 29-Inch Screen LCD Monitor
Multiview enables active dual connect so you can work with multiple devices like PC and Notebook side-by-side simultaneously, making complex multi-tasking work a breeze. --from the user manual
Sleek, modern, thin, and trimmed in 2 colors that go with most any decor: black and brushed silver. The Philips Brilliance 298P4QJEB 29-Inch Screen LCD Monitor is Impressive right out of the box! Feels weighty and looks well made. The shipping weight, of the package, is 26.2 lbs., so if one is not used to lifting so much weight (at one time) -- might need a little help. In the box: Philips Brilliance 298P4QJEB 29-Inch Screen LCD Monitor, 2 piece stand, Power Cable, Audio Cable, DP Cable (optional), Dual Link DVI Cable, a Warranty statement, Quick Start Guide and a CD that has various things on it to enhance your monitor experience like drivers, user manual, desktop software etc.
Ease of assembly and setup:...
2. Beautiful way to upgrade a dual display set-up into a single screen
I have always loved having dual monitors and feel that they greatly enhance my productivity. When shopping for a replacement for my two 24 inch screens, I started to wonder if their might be a better way to accomplish the higher real estate that I wanted without having so much equipment cluttering my desk. This 29-inch very wide form factor screen is just the sort of solution I was looking for. I can still work side-by-side, but without actually needing two monitors on my desk. It works even better than two separate screens, largely because of the Windows 7 and Windows 8 feature that lets you automatically arrange your windows.
This 29" display by Phillips looks great and is very well made. If you try it out, I don't think that you'll be disappointed. Be forewarned that Display Port cables are pretty tricky to find. With HDMI, I couldn't get full resolution out of my laptop, so I had to go pay way too much for a DP cable at Fry's electronics. You can save yourself that cost...

Big, beautiful, feature-rich, but byzantine settings buttons
I acquired this monitor to replace a 17" HP display that has been quite serviceable. The difference between this one and that one is quite enormous however. Besides the obvious qualitative difference in pixel depth and picture quality (as well as screen real estate), this display has an enormous amount of flexibility. I worked with it using several different input methods and OS versions.
The first thing I did was connect the display to my husband's year-old Acer laptop using HDMI using a cable that I purchased from Amazon prior to receiving the display (there are several cables, but no HDMI). This allowed the sound to travel along with the picture to the display, which is quite handy. However, even with the volume turned up to the highest level, it was too low for some of our video files. I'm sure this was an issue with the files, but it is worth noting in case other users are counting on a high-powered speaker within the monitor to overcome any volume short-comings. Also,...
